Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai informed in the Rajya Sabha today that more than one lakh posts in Central Armed Police Forces CAPFs are lying vacant and the candidates need to be recruited on them. Posts such as BSF and the CRPF have seen an increased number of vacancies which have occurred mostly due to retirement, resignation and deaths. The minister was addressing the Rajya Sabha today when he informed about the vacancies.
As per the Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, the BSF has the highest number of vacancies which is 28,926. These are followed by the CRPF vacancies of 26,506 posts, the CISF at 23906 and the SSB at 18,643. He also informed of the ITBP vacant posts to be 5,784 in number and the Assam Rifles to have 7,328 vacancies.
The minister was replying to a question raised in the Upper House of Parliament when he said, "vacancies in CAPFs and Assam Rifles arise due to retirement, resignation, death, new raising, creation of new posts, cadre reviews, etc. Majority of these vacancies are in the grade of constable."
The Union Public Service Commission conducts the UPSC CAPF Exam every year to fill various vacancies of Central Armed Police Force (Assistant Commandments), Central Reserve Police Force, CRPF, Border Security Force, BSF, Central Industrial Security Force, CISF, Sashastra Seema Bal, SSB and Indo‐Tibetan Border Police, ITBP. The post of Assistant Commandants is a Group A
Nityanand Rai talked about a very 'well-established procedure to fill up these vacancies' which can be through direct recruitment or exams or via promotion or deputation at various positions. As per him, the provisions of Recruitment Rules would be followed for their recruitment. He, however, did not announce any dates for the same.
The minister informed about the government's move in expediting the recruitment for the CAPF vacancies which is an ongoing continuous process." At present, the process of recruitment for 60,210 posts of constables, 2,534 posts of sub-inspectors through the Staff Selection Commission and 330 posts of assistant commandants through the Union Public Service Commission is underway," he said.
